The project can be seen as an important example of "re-architecture" and the re-utilisation of spaces.

The former cement factory located in Barcelona, built in 1973, was given new life when it was remodelled by Spanish architect Ricardo Bofill. By reusing the old buildings, the dilapidated factory was transformed into the architect´s home and workplace. Consisting of around 30 silos, underground galleries and huge halls, the factory took around two years to complete its renovation. The architect defined the new space and removed some structures from the original plan, exposing others previously hidden and making a huge garden with different types of vegetation, radically changing the landscape. In this project, the pre-existing spaces would adapt to the function envisaged by the architect. The project transformed the abandoned factory into something extremely beautiful.
